Rene moved to Calistoga in the early 1990’s and it wasn’t long before he joined the ranks of the wine professionals here in the valley.

After his first harvest at Freemark Abbey in 1996, he signed on with the production staff and quickly rose to position of cellar master. He held this title for over a decade, working with well-known cabernets such as Rutherford’s famous Bosche’ and Sycamore vineyards. Following a buyout, Rene was relocated to the cellar of Kendall-Jackson Oakville in 2009 and led a cellar crew there until joining the Hunnicutt team in 2011.

We are honored to have Rene apart of our staff and his extensive winemaking experience and passion for fine wine makes Hunnicutt a perfect match. Rene still lives in Calistoga where he loves to cook, play soccer and enjoy all that the valley has to offer.
