The 2011 Rutherford has great, dark color with a beautiful aromatic arrangement of smoke, cassis, camphor, cherry vanilla and milk chocolate. The palate’s entry is soft and ripe with flavors of chocolate layer cake, purple plum and loads of cherry. The mid-palate builds in strength and firm tannins support the back palate. The incredible richness of this wine is decidedly uncharacteristic of the vintage. We recommend decanting for at least two hours and aerating if opened in its youth. Drink now through 2022.
